Workshops on the Writing Craft
I am available to provide workshops on the craft of writing to writers groups, schools, libraries, and more. I currently offer three different workshops:
Creating Characters Your Readers Will Love (Or Love to Hate)
Characters are the heart of any story, and their personalities and the way they respond to challenges will drive your story. Without authentic and interesting characters, even the best plot will fall flat. This workshop covers how to create believable heroes and villains that will keep your readers turning the pages.
Writing Historical Fiction
Historical fiction can transport a reader to another time in a way that reading a textbook or studying history cannot. This workshop will teach you how to make history come alive in your writing, and how to colour your writing with facts without becoming a textbook.
Self-Publishing and How to Avoid the Pitfalls
Self-publishing is an exciting new way for writers to get their work in front of readers. But how do you know when your work is ready to publish? This workshop covers how to know when to cut the apron strings on your work and how to avoid common pitfalls that are waiting for the self-published author.
The following rates apply for workshops (based on recommended rates from the Saskatchewan Writers Guild):
